An Alternative Learning System (ALS) student was arrested for a carnapping charge he allegedly committed when he was a minor.
Charlie Salde, 21, was nabbed at his home at Barangay Cabugao Viejo, San Enrique, Iloilo morning of April 30.
Members of San Enrique Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC) apprehended the suspect by the strength of an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) under Criminal Case No. 22-10507.
Executive Judge Vicente Go Regional Trial Court (RTC) 6, Branch 68, Dumangas, Iloilo, issued the arrest warrant on Sept. 26, 2022.
Bail for his temporary liberty was fixed at P72,000.
Captain Johnny Oro, San Enrique police chief, said the suspect is on the top 10 most wanted list in San Enrique.
He allegedly stole a motorcycle out of whim some four years ago.
“It wasn’t something planned. Like, they went to a certain barangay, saw an unattended motorcycle, drove it, and later abandoned it,” Oro said.
There were also reports that the suspect also stole a motorcycle in Passi City.
“Daw tripping lang nila nga magbarkada,” Oro said.
Salde is now detained and will be turned over to the court concerned.
