BACOLOD City – A junior high school student died while seven other students and a tricycle driver were wounded after they figured in a collision at Hacienda Layagon, Barangay Lalagsan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police withheld the name of the 15-year-old fatality and the names of the seven wounded minor-students aged 9 to 17.
Police Staff Sergeant Andronico Tribaco, investigator of La Castellana Municipal Police Station, said a tricycle loaded with five students was on its way home when an alleged speeding motorcycle driven by the fatality crashed into them.
Tribaco said the collision happened when the tricycle made a left turn.
The fatality’s two companions, the tricycle driver, and his five passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Some of the wounded victims have been discharged already, while others, including the tricycle driver, are still confined in a hospital.
Tribaco said they are waiting for the decision of the victims’ families on the filing of a case.
