BACOLOD City – Around 85 grams of suspected shabu worth P578,000 were seized from a student and her grandmother in a buy-bust operation at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here last Saturday.
Arrested were Annabelle Diaz, 63, and her 22-year-old granddaughter. Both are high-value individuals, according to the police.
Also confiscated from them were the P12,500 marked money, and P1,020.
The operation was led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6, and Police Station 2 in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6.
Police Captain Jonito Pastrana, head of Police Station 2, said that Diaz is somehow related to a drug suspect who was arrested in the said village early this month.
In a media interview, Diaz said that she allegedly acted as a runner in the illegal drug trade. But her granddaughter denied the allegations against her.
Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2.
