An information technology student died after a road crash on the evening of April 24 in Ajuy, Iloilo.
The victim, identified by police only as alias Louie, 27, of Barangay Pasig in Sara, Iloilo, sustained multiple injuries.
Members of the Ajuy Responders Team brought him to Sara District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Master Sgt. John Cesar Bantigue, Ajuy police investigator, said the victim was supposed to fetch his elder sister, a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel assigned in Negros Occidental, at the Ajuy RoRo Port in Barangay Bay-ang when the incident happened.
Bantigue said Louie was driving along the national highway in Barangay Mangorocoro at around 9:40 p.m. Friday when he crashed into a barricade.
The barricade was placed near a road section under construction, Bantigue said.
He said the area was slightly curved and dimly lit.
The barricade had no substantial lighting except for its orange color, Bantigue added.
Louie, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the center of the road.
An approaching Subaru vehicle then hit him after he landed on the road.
Bantigue said the victim’s family had reached a settlement agreement with the Subaru driver, identified only as Cris, 37, a seafarer from Barangay Embarcadero in Batad, Iloilo.
