The Brooklyn Nets just banked in the services of former NBA MVP and superstar point guard Steve Nash as their new chief tactician as they welcome a new era with the black and white.
Nash, who orchestrated the high-octane offensive scheme under the coaching of Mike D’ Antoni with the Phoenix Suns, will try to lead Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to an NBA championship.
The 46-year-old crafty guard will be taking over Jacque Vaughn who will be relegated as the lead assistant coach of the team.
Before, the two-time MVP was a player development consultant for the Golden State Warriors for five straight seasons.
“Coaching is something I knew I wanted to pursue when the time was right, and I am humbled to be able to work with the outstanding group of players and staff we have here in Brooklyn,” Nash said.
The NBA Hall of Famer agreed to a four-year deal with Brooklyn and will immediately work with the team after bowing down to NBA defending champions Toronto Raptors in their playoff matchup.
“I am as excited about the prospects of the team on the court as I am about moving to Brooklyn with my family and becoming impactful members of this community,” added Nash.
