A stab-riddled body of a 41-year-old man was found on the morning of Dec 2, 2022 in Numancia, Aklan.
Police identified the victim as Jack Mererague, a resident of Barangay Gubongan, Miagao, Iloilo.
The victim’s family confirmed his identity.
Students on their way to school discovered the body at Barangay Albasan, Numancia.
The body was wrapped in a blanket and just tossed at the roadside.
Corporal Arjorine Mendoza, Numancia police investigator, said the victim suffered at least
10 stab injuries believed to be inflicted using an ice pick.
He also appeared to have been struck with a hard object on his head.
His family said they last saw Mererague two years ago.
Nothing was heard from him since then.
Mendoza said they’re still gathering information about Mendoza’s work and where he had been in the last two years.
