SSS presents programs for seafarers during the PAMAS-INTERMAP General Membership Meeting

Social Security System (SSS) Account Management Group Acting Head Neil F. Hernaez (left) explains to Philippine Association of Manning Agencies and Shipmanagers, Inc. (PAMAS)-International Maritime Association of the Philippines (INTERMAP) President Captain Juanito G. Salvatierra Jr. the social security coverage offered by SSS during the recent PAMAS-INTERMAP’s 1st General Membership Meeting held at the AMOSUP Convention Hall, Seamen’s Center Building in Intramuros, Manila.

During the event, Hernaez presented the SSS Programs for Seafarers. He said that under Section 9-B of Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018, manning agencies are considered employers of seafarers.

Hernaez discussed the SSS coverage, contributions, benefits, loans, and the Workers’ Investment and Savings Program (WISP). He also presented updates on enhancements to SSS facilities to improve the efficiency of its services to members.

Also present during the event are SSS Public Affairs and Special Events Division Concurrent Acting Head Carlo C. Villacorta and SSS NCR Large Accounts Department Acting Head Henry D. Bonete, who assisted Hernaez in responding to queries during the open forum.
