In line with the Rotary International’s 7th area of focus – “Supporting the Environment, the Rotary Club of Bacolod in partnership with the Bankers Club of Negros Occidental Inc, Prime Water Corporation, Rotaract Club of Bacolod – Colegio San Agustin Chapter, Interact Club of Bacolod Holy Family High School Chapter initiated mangrove planting activity this 20th November 2021 at Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod City.
21 Life Changing Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors led by President Pauline Cuaycong, assisted by Club Secretary Frederick Anthony de Leon, Asst. Treasurer Michelle Medrano, Director Marjorie Dino, Rotarian Rudylyn Fabellena, Rotaract LCP Deanna Therese Cerna, Advisers Mr. Bong Lacanilao and Kizzer Alejandro and the Club Secretariat participated in the annual mangrove planting.
Also present is Prime Water Corporation GM Mike Toledo and Mr. Art Golez, President of the Bankers Club.
Around 600 mangrove seedling where planted over the weekend and is a continuing project to which the Rotary Club of Bacolod is investing by putting its time and resources intro the environment in a bid to touch the lives of those involved and the communities it serves.
There are about 55 hectares in the coastal area of Brgy. Punta Taytay that is reserved for mangrove planting and re-forestation that serve as a natural buffer for floods, typhoons, rising sea level thereby protecting the community and their coastal livelihoods.
