After more than three years, Lt. Col. Rolando Araño has stepped down as spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
Col. Bayani Razalan, Iloilo police chief, said Araño was officially relieved effective May 12, 2026.
Lt. Col. Arnel Solis will take over the post vacated by Araño.
Razalan said Solis will remain chief of the Oton Municipal Police Station.
Araño, meanwhile, was assigned to the IPPO General Services Office.
“He will act like a camp command,” Razalan explained.
The outgoing GSO chief, Lt. Col. Sheila Marie Sardoma, was designated chief of the IPPO public information office.
Razalan said he initiated Araño’s relief to give him a chance to experience other responsibilities.
In the meantime, he designated a different spokesperson and a public information officer because he wanted “someone who’s familiar with the media.”
Solis is considered a seasoned spokesperson after working with several regional directors of the Police Regional Office 6.
