ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A soldier from Tapaz, Capiz who was killed in an encounter Sunday morning, Feb. 15, in Barangay Santo Niño, Tanjay, Negros Oriental was a good husband.
“Napakabuting asawa at mapagmahal na ama si Reynold,” said Inday, wife of Army Cpl. Reynold Gardose, 29, a native of Tapaz town.
The remains of Cpl. Renold Gardose, 29, of Purok 5, Barangay Carida, Tapaz, Capiz, arrived Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, from Negros Oriental.
He was a member of the 11th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
The operation began at 5:35 a.m. on Feb. 15, after the 11th Infantry Battalion received information regarding a gathering of seven to 10 members of the New People’s Army on the high part of a mountain in the boundary of Tanjay and Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
Reports said that in the midst of the encounter, the rebels were in a more favorable position in the upper part of the mountain as government forces were crawling to the lower part.
Gardose was hit in the shoulder and the bullet penetrated his abdomen, causing his death.
The couple has a 2-year-old child.
The Philippine Army said the government will afford and extend financial assistance to the family of the late soldier for his heroic deeds as defender of the nation.
