Social media poser nabbed in Manapla

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here urged victims of a social media poser to file complaints against the suspect who was arrested in an entrapment operation at Crossing Gaston, Barangay Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Police identified the suspect as Alvin Amandog, 27, a sugarcane field worker and a resident of Barangay Tortosa.

Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s deputy information officer, said Amandog’s arrest happened after police received information about his modus operandi.

Donasco said that Amandog’s ploy was to pretend to be a beautiful woman on social media and used other fictitious identities to seduce his victims.

He then lured them to a meet up and robbed them at gunpoint, she added.

Police recovered from the suspect two sachets of suspected shabu, two live ammunition and an empty shell of .38 caliber, and a cellular phone charger and a sling bag owned by two of his victims.

Donasco said that the suspect may face multiple charges for fraud, illegal drugs, robbery, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Police Major Joevito Bose, town police chief, said the suspect may also face rape charges after some of his male victims complained against him for alleged sexual molestation.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, in a statement, warned netizens to be cautious in meeting up with suspicious persons acquainted through social media sites since posing using another person’s photo is easily done in these platforms.
