ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A man recently caught for allegedly stealing the bag of a businesswoman at a public market here is also wanted in Negros Occidental.
The Roxas City Police Office served a warrant of arrest against alias Lorenzo, 50, of Barangay Sto. Niño, Dumalag, Capiz, after he was caught allegedly stealing the bag of alias Rosalinda, 59, of Barangay Inzo Arnaldo Village, Roxas City, while she was buying something at the public market.
The bag reportedly contained PHP 9,700 in cash, a Seiko gold-plated wristwatch worth PHP 7,000, and an SSS ID.
Personnel of the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center apprehended the suspect at around 8:30 a.m. on March 10, 2026, after the victim sought assistance.
He was later turned over to the police.
Police later discovered that the suspect had a pending warrant of arrest in Negros Occidental for violation of Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code, or illegal possession and use of false treasury or bank notes and other instruments of credit.
The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez of Branch 63 in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, and was dated Feb. 19, 2026.
The court recommended bail of PHP 60,000 for his temporary liberty.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Roxas City police for proper disposition.
A theft charge was also filed against him on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
