Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Slovak national in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
Michaela Mickova was found dead at around 2:19 p.m. on March 12 in an abandoned chapel at Zone 3, Sitio Pinaungon, Barangay Balabag.
Authorities received the report at 3:50 p.m.
When police responders arrived at the scene, they found a decomposing body of a woman without a lower garment.
The victim was wearing an upper garment, but it was rolled up.
She was found lying on her back with her legs spread apart.
Her shoes were still on, and she was carrying a belt bag.
However, her wallet was missing.
Initial reports indicated that she suffered a stab wound to the abdomen.
Mickova arrived in Boracay on March 1 to attend a Filipina friend’s wedding.
Her friend reported her missing on March 10.
The location where she was found was about a kilometer from her accommodations.
Police have yet to identify a person of interest.
