Skeleton unearthed at Negros Occ university

BACOLOD CITY — The skeletal remains of an unidentified individual were found at the Central Philippines State University (CPSU) in Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, officials said Tuesday.

The CPSU’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) reported on Facebook that the remains were discovered adjacent to the university’s newly renovated gymnasium by CPSU President Dr. Aladino Moraca and staff.

“According to the barangay natives, this area served as a cemetery for Indigenous Peoples,” stated Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape, city police chief.

The remains came to light during excavation by construction workers installing a septic tank.

“The university has taken possession of the remains, which will be preserved and tested for identification,” Indiape confirmed, assuring that there is no cause for alarm.
