Skate Life Iloilo and Skate Life Ping successfully organized the 2024 Dinagyang “For the Love 2” Skate and BMX Competition held at the Iloilo Public Skate park last January 21, 2024.
After a day of extreme sports treat to the Ilonggos in line with the 2024 Dinagyang Festival schedule of activities, almost 100 skaters and BMX competitors flocked to the competing venue to vie for the championship trophies.
The event was spearheaded by Christopher Leccio Hurich, popularly known in Iloilo and the skate scene as “Ping”, and Andrew Cartera.
Just like their successful “For the Love” event last Dinagyang celebration, the duo replicated its well-organized event this year.
For the skateboarding Class A event, Ronald Abaracoso bagged the championship title while Marj Rusiana and Rheco Labuasas grabbed second and third place, respectively.
In the skateboarding Class B event, Herby Jay was awarded as the champion while Ceezar Alamo IV managed to win second place and Yves Laurentte third place.
In the skateboarding side games, Abaracoso continued his dominance after bagging the Longest Ollie and the Best Trick Down Gap awards.
Meanwhile, Labuasas had a flawless run to win the Best Trick Down Stairs side game while Michael Saffron Diño and Marlo Villacarlos nabbed the Best Trick 14-year-old and the Best Trick 30-year-old, respectively.
During the BMX competition Class A event, Raymart Flores topped all participants to raise the championship trophy. Winning second was Prince Aljohn II while Lester Fabillon placed third.
Last but not the least, in the BMX Class B event, Joshua Lapido emerged as the winner while the duo of Arnoldo Pelonia and Kyle Panza placed second and third, respectively.
The event was co-presented by VANS Philippines in cooperation with Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, Iloilo City Government, Iloilo City Sports Development Division spearheaded by Executive Assistant for Sports and Youth Mr. Rudiver Jungco Sr., and Mr. Rein Dayot, and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc.
