A Sangguniang Kabataan treasurer was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the afternoon of May 12 in Lemery, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as alias Nik, 26, of Barangay Nagsulang, Lemery.
Members of the Lemery Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect following a buy-bust operation in Barangay Almeñana, Lemery.
The team, led by Capt. John P. Robles, Lemery police chief, seized 80 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 544,000.
Robles said the suspect is on the police watchlist of illegal drug personalities.
A former call center agent, Nik had reportedly been engaged in the illegal drug trade for several months.
He was placed under surveillance for three weeks before the anti-drug operation was conducted against him.
Robles said Nik claimed he sourced his supply from drug traders in Roxas City, Capiz, and from adjacent towns in Iloilo’s 5th District.
The suspect is detained and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
