A Sangguniang Kabataan kagawad (council member) was killed in a gun attack evening of Nov 6, 2022 in Anilao, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Zoren Daquiado, 22, a mechanic and resident of Barangay San Carlos, Anilao.
Reports said that Daquiado and some friends and family members were drinking liquor on the roadside prior to the shooting episode.
Around 10:45 p.m., their neighbor 45-year-old Danilo Zerrudo arrived on board his motorcycle.
Without any word, Zerrudo pulled his gun and repeatedly shot the group.
Only Daquiado was hit on the right side of his head.
A passing mobile patrol car of Ajuy Municipal Police Station took the victim to Barotac Viejo District Hospital but he did not pull through.
The suspect immediately fled and remains at large as of press time.
Staff Sergeant Rogelio Amador, Jr., Ajuy police investigator, said that old grudges could have triggered the incident.
There’s reportedly bad blood between the victim’s family and the suspect.
“But Zerrudo could have been targeting the victim’s brother, who was also at the scene when the incident happened,” Amador said.
Charges are yet to be filed against the suspect.
