BACOLOD City – Policemen in Negros Oriental arrested on Tuesday a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad or council member for allegedly violating Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) rules amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Police identified the suspect as Rogen Mamigo, 22, of Barangay Poblacion, Zamboanguita town.
A report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), indicated that police officers were conducting mobile patrol in the area when they spotted Mamigo and his companion roaming the streets on a motorcycle, without face masks and helmets.
The police told them to stop but they fled, prompting the law enforcers to chase them.
But only Mamigo was cornered and arrested while his companion managed to escape.
Mamigo was brought to Zamboanguita Municipal Police Station and will be facing charges for serious disobedience to agents of person in authority.
