ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman of Poblacion Sur, Sigma, Capiz, faces a 60-day suspension for misappropriating SK funds.
Mayor Dante Rizal Eslabon was urged by the Sangguniang Bayan to suspend SK Chairman John Lynnel Dalmacio Alayon, citing Municipal Ordinance No. 04-S-2006, Sections 1, 2, and 5, Rule 6.
The ordinance was passed during a recent session attended by SB member Esperedion Pelaez, Liga ng mga Barangay President Jose Bidiones Jr., SK Federation President Katherine Marie Medrozo, and Vice Mayor Christopher Andaya, who served as the presiding officer.
Alayon was accused of stealing four checks belonging to the SK of Barangay Bangonbangon, also in Sigma.
It was later discovered that Alayon had cashed the checks but returned the money once the theft was uncovered.
Alayon issued a public apology, stating that he used the funds for personal needs.
The 60-day suspension without pay is expected to be implemented soon.
However, it was learned that Mayor Eslabon has yet to enforce the Sangguniang Bayan’s recommendation.
