As the Premier League tightens up its preparations for a comeback in the middle weeks of June 2020, six members from three clubs tested positive for COVID-19.
Out of the 748 players and members of the clubs tested, the Premier League management announced that six contracted the virus during testing done ahead of their return to training.
As of the moment, the Premier League decided not to disclose any information about the six members/players from the three clubs.
After safety protocols were signed by the Premier League board, the clubs were allowed small group trainings.
“Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of 7 days,” added the league’s statement.
Clubs who started training in small groups upon finding out the news still haven’t released their statements.
Upon the approval of the resumption of training, some Clubs expressed dismay and did not even start yet amid fears of contracting the virus.
Watford captain Troy Deeney said he will not go back to training because he is concerned with the welfare of his five-month-old-son while Newcastle left-back Danny Rose stated that they were being treated like “guinea pigs or lab rats.”
