Two-shot free-throws have always been the norm in basketball. Then came the three-point shot which in-turn, resulted to three free-throws when a three-point shooter gets fouled. The NBA G League is about to change all that.
In a bid to reduce game length, the G League will introduce a new policy that will result in a single shot from the charity stripe on all free-throw trips, rewarding the foul shooter two or three points depending on the foul. The new policy is surely to raise strong arguments from spectators, coaches, and from players themselves. Not to mention that another G League experiment (coach’s challenge) inadvertently result’s in lengthening game time.
G League games will, however, revert back to normal basketball rules of two and three free-throw attempts in the final two minutes of the game.
The new rule will be implemented in the G League’s upcoming season this November.
