Sine Negrense opens entries for 10th film festival
Sine Negrense: Negros Island Film Festival has opened submissions for its 2026 Film Competition, inviting filmmakers across Negros Island to share stories celebrating the island’s people, culture and creative spirit.
The festival will mark its 10th edition this November. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 1, 2026.
Since its inaugural edition in 2017, Sine Negrense has grown into one of the region’s leading platforms for independent filmmaking.
The festival has championed original works by Negrense storytellers and helped develop a new generation of filmmakers through annual screenings, industry partnerships and competitions.
“The 10th edition of Sine Negrense marks an important milestone for the festival and for regional filmmaking in Negros Island,” Co-Festival Director Banjo Hinolan said.
“We encourage both new and experienced filmmakers to share their stories and take part in this year’s competition. We look forward to discovering films that showcase the creativity, culture, and diverse experiences of our communities.”
The 2026 competition is open to eligible student, amateur and professional filmmakers from Negros Island.
Selected films will be presented during the festival in November.
The entries will be screened before audiences and evaluated by a panel of filmmakers and industry professionals.
The call for entries follows the festival’s ninth edition, which recognized regional filmmakers and student storytellers during an awards ceremony on June 20, 2026, at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Social Hall.
