ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Tropical Depression Wilma did not stop the weeklong Sinadya Festival 2025 from formally opening on the morning of Dec. 5.
Some outdoor events affected by the weather were moved indoors to ensure the festivities continued.
The opening program and flag-raising ceremony at the city’s public plaza followed a holy mass at the Mary Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
The activities were led by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, along with other local officials, government employees, students and residents.
Former 1st District Rep. Emmanuel Billones Sr. and former congressional candidate Paolo Roxas also attended the event.
Among the first-day highlights were the blessing of the Roxas City Diagnostic Center, the grand reopening of the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center, and the Sinadya sa Kalye Drum and Lyre Competition.
The festival will conclude on Monday, Dec. 8, with a pontifical mass in honor of the patroness of Capiz, Mary Immaculate Conception.
