SIGMA, Capiz – Reelected Mayor Dante Rizal A. Eslabon and his winning allies took their oath of office on Monday morning, June 23, at the Sigma Civic Center.
The oathtaking coincided with the town’s vesper celebration and the religious fiesta of Saint John the Baptist, held annually on June 24.
Seven allied Sangguniang Bayan members also took their oath before a Municipal Circuit Trial Court judge.
They were joined by their families during the ceremony.
The newly elected and reelected councilors are Norman Marcelino, Christopher Alayon, Albert Santiago, Thomas Lagulay, Speed Pelaez, Dan Justin Eslabon and Rolly Miguel.
Eslabon, now on his second term as Sigma’s chief executive, pledged to continue his unfinished projects and programs that aim to benefit his constituents.
Among his key initiatives is the ongoing implementation of the town’s speed limit ordinance.
Sigma is the first local government unit in Region 6 to adopt such a measure, which took effect on June 1, 2025.
The ordinance sets speed limits for all vehicles within the municipality and enforces penalties for violations.
It also makes Sigma the first in the region to deploy speed enforcement cameras, which have been installed in three barangays.
