Two siblings drowned in a river in Sta. Barbara town in Iloilo afternoon of Sept. 18, 2020.
Grace, 5, and her brother Jun-Jun, 12, were swept away after the river swelled while swimming at Barangay Talongadian.
A search and rescue operation was conducted by authorities and volunteer rescue groups in the area.
At 4:30 p.m. of Saturday, or 23 hours since they were reported missing, Grace’s body was found at Barangay Pal-agon, Sta. Barbara.
Volunteers from the Unicorns Rescue Group and Mountain Tigers-Pototan Unit continue to conduct search operations to find the girl’s older brother.
Meanwhile, the victims’ mother is still hoping that her 12-year-old son would be found alive.
The mother, who does laundry for a living, said she had been doing everything she could to help raise her five children.
