The inclement weather did not dampen the spirit of Our Lady of Candles, also known as Nuestra Senyora de Candelaria, as devotees celebrated her feast day in the historic district of Jaro.
Fresh from leisure travel in the U.S., educator Boni Gaverza and his family hosted their annual feast day celebration, a Mediterranean-themed luncheon through dinner for family and close friends at their elegant home in Jaro.
“This is Jaroenos’ tradition of sharing our blessings as a way of thanksgiving to our beloved Senyora de Candelaria for all the graces and protection she has given our family through the years,” said Prof. Boni Gaverza.
Beyond the lavish spread, the family’s warm hospitality defined the Filipino religious culture at the heart of the gathering.
