BACOLOD CITY – A 41-year-old woman was caught by a jail officer attempting to sneak in a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP3,400 into the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Barangay 2, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Sunday.
Police Lt. Col. Terence Paul Sta. Ana, chief of Victorias City Police Station, said the illegal substance was discovered hidden in a rolled-up pants of the suspect only identified as “Princess” during a routine inspection on visitors around 2 p.m.
“Princess” was supposed to visit her live-in partner, who is is detained for drug-related charges.
Sta. Ana said that “Princess” had been under police monitoring as a street-level individual.
Jail Chief Supt. Simeon Dolojo Jr., regional director of BJMP-6, commended the personnel for their vigilance and dedication.
The BJMP-6, through Jail Senior Insp. Juniven Rey Umadhay, spokesperson and legal chief for BJMP Region 6, vowed to continue to strengthen their measures and policies in detecting and confiscating illegal contrabands in order to prevent its entry inside the jails.
The BJMP-6 has remained steadfast and resolute in its policies against illegal drugs and contrabands in order to achieve drug-free facilities in the region.
Authorities filed charges against “Princess” yesterday for violating Sec. 21 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which pertains to the proper custody and handling of confiscated illegal drugs.
