Suspected illegal drugs and a firearm were seized from a 57-year-old man who was accused of abusing his wife.
Members of Hamtic Police Station responded to a complaint that Lito Barte, 57, a resident of Barangay 8, San Jose, harassed and maltreated his wife.
Complainants alleged that Barte even threatened to kill his wife with a firearm.
The incident happened around 11:50 pm on July 9, 2020 at Barangay Malandog, Hamtic, Antique.
It appeared that the woman fled to Hamtic but Barte still pursued her.
When he was frisked, the suspect yielded a clutch bag containing a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, a knife, identification cards, and two small sachets of suspected shabu.
The suspect is now detained and might be facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
