ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Seven persons were caught for alleged illegal fishing in the waters of Panay, Capiz.
The Bantay Dagat of Panay town identified the suspects as Weldy Babilonia, 55, boat captain, and his crew members Joselito Borbon, 40, and Rey Borado, 31, all residents of Brgy. Casanayan, Pilar.
Recovered from the suspects were a fishing boat, a 4dr5 motor engine, fishing nets, and 10 kilos of assorted fishes.
On the same day, three more fishermen were arrested while conducting illegal fishing activities in Panay town.
The team from the Bantay Dagat of Panay town identified the suspects as Greg Tenorio (Boat Captain), 39, his crew members Eduardo Dela Cruz Jr., 20, Samuel Dorde, 28, and Marty Tambal, 32, all residents of Barangay Libas here.
Recovered from the suspects were 50 kilos of assorted fishes and several fishing gears which are presently under the custody of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Panay for proper disposition.
The four were fined for violations of Municipal Ordinance No. 03-02 series of 2003.
