A 77-year-old man died after his house was reduced to ashes by a fire that happened afternoon of May 10, 2020 in Bingawan, Iloilo.
The victim was identified as Paterno Chavez, a resident of Barangay Quinar-upan, Bingawan.
Chavez, who was living by himself, was reportedly taking a rest due to an illness when the conflagration erupted.
The victim, who was suffering from hypertension, failed to get out of his house which was made of light materials.
Investigators are eyeing electrical short circuit as the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, another fire occurred 10:30 a.m. on May 11 at Brgy. Baybay Norte, Miagao, Iloilo.
Initial reports indicated that 10 houses were gutted while one was partially damage.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-Migaao has yet to determine the cause of fire and the value of damaged properties.
No one was hurt in the incident.
