ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A senior citizen was arrested Wednesday morning in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling unlicensed guns.
The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigations and Detections Group-Capiz, Pilar Municipal Police Station, 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, Highway Patrol Group and 602nd Maritime Police at Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Natividad, Pilar, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as Frankelino Cuñada, 60, also of Brgy. Natividad.
Recovered from Cuñada were a .38-caliber revolver, a pistol-type shotgun, and the P4,500 marked money.
According to Police Major Christopher Arthemeus Devaras, CIDG-Capiz chief, it took a week of monitoring and surveillance before the operations was conducted.
Cuñada is presently detained at CIDG-Capiz.
He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Meanwhile, a 12-guage shotgun is now in the custody of Cuartero Municipal Police Station after it was abandoned by an unidentified person Wednesday night at Barangay Angub, Cuartero, Capiz.
According to the police, they were conducting night patrol when they saw a man running towards a sugar cane plantation and left the firearm.
They followed him but they failed to catch him.
The firearm is set to be turned over to the FESAGS Divison of the Capiz Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.
