Senior citizen killed in lightning strike

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A senior citizen woman died after she was hit by lightning Saturday afternoon at Sitio Calintong in Barangay Sinamongan, Pilar, Capiz.
Police Corporal Jaypee Tomogda, Pilar PNP investigator, identified the victim as Gloria Buendia of said barangay.
Buendia was cleaning her house made of light materials and located in an open space when lightning struck her at about 4 p.m.
Her husband Danilo, who was in bed, said he heard thunderclap around that time. He went outside the room and found his wife lying on the floor and asking for help.
The victim was wounded in her chest and abdomen. She was immediately taken to the Rural Health Unit of Pilar but she was declared dead on arrival by the doctor.
