Senior citizen arrested in Roxas illegal gambling operation

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 64-year-old woman was arrested Friday morning, Oct. 9, in an anti-illegal gambling operation in Block 26, Malipayon NHA Village, Barangay Tiza, Roxas City.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Rosario,” a laborer and resident of Alba Subdivision in Barangay Tiza.
Police said the suspect was caught allegedly soliciting bets from Police Master Sgt. Boy Artuz, who acted as a poseur-bettor, for an STL Pares game locally known as “bookies.”
The operation was conducted by the Roxas City police, with Capt. Alladen B. Talaban serving as team leader.
Police recovered a claim stub containing a bet number, a blank claim stub, a notebook containing different number combinations and a blue ballpoint pen.
Authorities also seized PHP 20 in marked money with serial number TK374143 and PHP 100 in alleged collections.
The suspect is under the custody of the Roxas City police while charges for alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602, as amended by Republic Act No. 9287, are being prepared against her.
