BACOLOD City – Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said Friday that he will sponsor the counterpart bill for the establishment of the Bacolod City General Hospital here.
House Bill 6731 (An Act Establishing a Hospital in the City of Bacolod, Province of Negros Occidental, To Be Known as the Bacolod City General Hospital) which was authored by Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, was passed on third and final reading recently.
Zubiri, who traces his roots to Negros Occidental, told Daily Guardian that he is very supportive of the measure that will address health concerns of the people.
He expressed optimism that the Senate counterpart bill will be passed and approved this year.
Gasataya also authored HB 8835, which expanded the capacity of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here from 400 to 1,000 beds.
The CLMMRH is operated by DOH.
Gasataya said the national government has committed to help establish the tertiary hospital and provide the equipment.
