A petty misunderstanding allegedly drove a security guard to stab a fellow guard at their workplace in Molo, Iloilo City morning of March 31, 2022.
Police accounts said it all started with a joke that did not sit well between the suspect, Placido Camiña, and the victim, Marcos Badilles.
Staff Sergeant Mark John Suganob, Molo police investigator, said the joke turned into a misunderstanding and later resulted in a commotion.
Both security guards are employed by SN Security Agency and detailed to Iloilo Society Commercial warehouse at Barangay Poblacion, Molo.
The 56-year-old Badilles threw the first punch at 42-year-old Camiña. He then struck the younger guard with the buttstock of his shotgun.
Camiña, who was armed with a kitchen knife, grappled for the firearm.
He then stabbed Badilles seven times on the back and once on the abdomen.
The suspect was immediately arrested while the victim was rushed to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital for treatment.
Suganob said Badilles’ family claimed they would pursue criminal charges against the suspect.
