BACOLOD CITY – A 34-year-old security guard was killed, and a 22-year-old college student was injured following a motorcycle collision in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, last Monday.
The fatality was identified as Marjon Mollero, a resident of Barangay Oringao.
Police Capt. Sammy Gasataya, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, reported that the college student was traveling from Barangay Orong toward Barangay Camingawan when the collision occurred.
According to Gasataya, Mollero allegedly made a sudden left turn from the outer lane of the highway, causing the student to lose control of her motorcycle and hit the left side of Mollero’s vehicle.
Both riders fell to the pavement and sustained injuries.
Mollero was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, while the student, a resident of Mabinay, Negros Oriental, is currently recuperating at a hospital.
Gasataya added that both parties have reached an initial settlement regarding the incident.
