The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) won the Outstanding Digital Campaign: Best Short-Form award from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) for its innovative efforts to protect the public from fraudulent loan schemes.
The SEC was recognized during the inaugural Parangal: Gawad sa Kahusayan sa Komunikasyong Pampubliko on December 16 for its Advance Fee Loan Scam FAQ Reel Series.
The Parangal awards honor outstanding communication campaigns and strategies by national and local government agencies that enhance public understanding of government programs, promote transparency, and build trust with the public.
Launched in August, the SEC’s Advance Fee Loan Scam FAQ Reel Series used simple and relatable language to educate the public about advance fee loan scams—schemes that trick borrowers into paying fees upfront for loans that are never disbursed.
“It is an honor to be recognized by no less than the Office of the President for our communication initiatives,” SEC Chairperson Emilio B. Aquino said.
“The Parangal we received reflects our steadfast commitment to inform, educate, and engage the public to help them achieve entrepreneurial success, make smart investment decisions, and avoid fraud for a secure financial future.”
The SEC topped four other government agencies in the Outstanding Digital Campaign: Best Short-Form category.
The Commission also earned nominations in four additional categories: Public Service Campaign (National Level) for Investor Protection Week 2024, Government Innovation Award for its Third Wave of SEC Digital Initiatives, Outstanding Digital Campaign: Long-Form for the SEC CAN! Webinar Series 2024, and Outstanding Digital Campaign of the Year for the Advance Fee Loan Scam Campaign.
