BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Northern Negros Occidental has conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation after a crew member of a fishing vessel was reported missing in the waters between Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, and Balidian Island, Concepcion, Iloilo, last Saturday.
Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of PCG-Northern Negros Occidental, said that 24-year-old Leodigario Brosas of Victorias City, Negros Occidental, was last seen asleep aft of the fishing vessel after a fishing venture on Friday night.
Benjamin stated that Brosas’s companions noticed he was missing while they were on their way back to Victorias City around 1 a.m. He believed that Brosas might have fallen off the boat.
The boat owner reported the incident to the PCG, prompting them to alert other vessels transiting within the vicinity and inform residents to be on the lookout for Brosas.
Benjamin said they also informed PCG sub-stations for possible sightings.
