Search of Roxas kagawad’s house yields no gun

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Authorities went empty-handed Thursday evening, June 18, after no firearms, ammunition, or explosive materials were recovered during the implementation of a search warrant at the house of a former village chief and incumbent kagawad of Barangay VII here.

The Capiz Provincial Intelligence Unit, led by Lt. Col. Chris Arthemius Devaras, acting force commander, swooped down on the house of barangay kagawad Rolando Luda on Washington St., Barangay VII, Roxas City.

Based on the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Lorencito Diaz of Branch 17 in Roxas City on June 16, 2026, authorities were ordered to search Luda’s house for an M14 Armalite rifle, a .45-caliber firearm, and ammunition.

But after searching the whole house and the room of the village official, authorities recovered none of the items.

It may be recalled that on June 3, 2026, Luda was involved in a commotion at Sitio Tambak over a land dispute with a female neighbor.

In a video uploaded by a concerned citizen, Luda was seen carrying a long firearm, believed to be an Armalite rifle, and allegedly tried to threaten the neighbor.

Because of this, the neighbor filed complaints for grave threats and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, against Luda.

RA 10591 provides the country’s comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition and sets penalties for violations.

Luda, a former police officer, denied the charges and claimed that the long firearm he was carrying was a toy gun meant to scare off strangers who were causing trouble in the village.
