Seafarer killed, brother hurt in motorcycle-truck crash

A seafarer died after his motorcycle crashed into a refrigerator van early morning of May 11 at Leganes, Iloilo,
Police identified the victim as Webb Peñalber, 27, a resident of Barangay Sinuagan, Pototan, Iloilo.
His older brother and backrider, 33-year-old John Peñalber, also a resident of Pototan town, survived with minor injuries.
According to reports, the brothers were navigating Barangay Cagamutan Norte, Leganes when they bumped into a Fuso Fighter reefer truck driven by Wilfredo Diamanse.
The truck driver allegedly was turning left in the middle of the highway when the motorcycle crashed into it.
The victims were taken to West Visayas State University Medical Center.
However, Webb was declared dead on arrival.
It was learned that the victims’ family agreed to a settlement with the truck owner.
