SEA Games athletes back in training after receiving first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The 2021 Southeast Asian Games athletes of the Philippines may now resume their respective trainings after completing their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

All SEA Games athletes, coaches, officials, and media representation had to get their vaccines on time in compliance with the policy of the Vietnam SEA Games organizers.

A “no vaccine, no participation” rule has been implemented by the main officials of the SEA Games to protect everyone that will be flocking to Vietnam once the prized sporting event takes place.

Now that everything is set, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) confirmed that the athletes can now go back to their bubble and continue their halted training.

However, only areas that are under moderate and low-risk community quarantine classifications will be allowed to operate.

Included in the rules stated are written consents from athletes who are 18-years-old and below signed by their parents.

PSC medical scientific athletes services (MSAS) unit and Joint Administrative Order-designated health and safety officers will be monitoring the approved bubbles and will make sure that health and safety protocols are observed.

The Philippines’ delegation has five months left to wrap up their SEA games preparation and get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on time as the competition begins from November 21 to December 2.
