Iloilo City is set to open a science museum this July with the launch of Science XPdition at Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park, reinforcing the township’s growing reputation as a center for culture, education, and innovation.
Spanning 1,650 square meters on the third level of Festive Walk Mall, Science XPdition offers a fully interactive experience with over 100 immersive exhibits and more than 100 hands-on experiments spread across 10 themed laboratories.
Designed to spark curiosity and promote critical thinking, the museum allows children and families to explore topics ranging from physics and biology to engineering, astronomy, and zoology.
“Science XPdition brings a new layer of educational and cultural enrichment to Iloilo Business Park as we position our township as a destination for learning and exploration,” said Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
“We look forward to welcoming children, students and families to this new attraction, as we look to give them more meaningful and educational experiences,” he added.
A centerpiece of the museum is a life-size silicone figure of Albert Einstein crafted by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong—a hyper-realistic tribute to one of history’s greatest scientific minds and a unique photo opportunity for visitors.
Unlike traditional museums, Science XPdition focuses on interactive and sensory learning, allowing guests to touch, build, and test ideas, reinforcing lessons in science through direct engagement.
The museum is expected to become a staple destination for school field trips and weekend family outings, serving as a new educational pillar in Western Visayas.
The project is the third museum developed by Megaworld inside the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park township, following the success of the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA) – the first museum of its kind in Visayas and Mindanao – and the Brandy Museum, a national first.
“Our vision for Iloilo Business Park is to become a true cultural and creative district for Iloilo – one that celebrates the arts and heritage, and also inspires learning and discovery,” said Arnie Batac, Executive Director of the Iloilo Business Park Arts & Culture Council.
“With the presence of ILOMOCA, the Brandy Museum, and the opening of Science XPdition, we are laying the groundwork for a thriving community where culture, education, and innovation intersect,” Batac added.
Science XPdition’s opening adds to Megaworld’s broader mission to develop townships that go beyond retail and residential offerings, establishing dynamic lifestyle and cultural destinations across the country.
