BACOLOD City – A sari-sari store owner succumbed to multiple hack wounds after she was allegedly attacked inside their house at Barangay Asia, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
Killed was Marilou Dela Peña, 45, according to the police.
Based on the investigation of the town police, the suspect identified as 32-year-old Reni March Cariaga drank liquor at the house of Dela Peña’s neighbor, where he figured in a heated argument with a certain “Junie Janoy.”
The lifeless body of the victim was discovered by her husband when he came home later that day, police records indicated.
The suspect allegedly hacked the victim on her face, neck, right arm, and chest, using a 20-inch bolo, police said.
Cariaga was later arrested, and police recovered from him the bladed weapon he allegedly used in the crime.
