Different crowd, unfamiliar territory.
Despite those odds, PBA champion San Miguel Beermen prevailed over Japanese club Ryukyu Golden Kings, 101-92, with SMB displaying their high-octane brand of offense.
Terrence Romeo torched the Golden Kings whenever he found himself in isolation plays and looked to put every Japanese defender on skates with his array of crossovers and dribbling wizardry.
Romeo finished the game with 18 big points, with most of his shots coming from contested conversions and acrobatic lay-ups.
New import Dez Wells showed that he can fill in the gap Chris McCullough left for SMB, as he delivered a performance for the ages, pouring in 42 big points for their second straight victory.
With the win, the Beermen topped group B to set-up a clash with the team that defeated the TNT Katropa in the tournament, the Liaoning Flying Leopards led by former NBA player Lance Stephenson.
