San Miguel signs Rodney Brondial after parting ways with Alaska

Rodney Brondial is now the newest member of the San Miguel Beermen.

After declining a two-year extension from the Alaska Aces and testing free agency, the savvy big man immediately found a new home as confirmed by team governor Dickie Bachmann.

Brondial’s signing with the Beermen will set up a reunion with his former college head coach Leo Austria who mentored him during his glory days with the Adamson Soaring Falcons.

The six-foot-five center proved to be an ex-factor during his campaign with the Aces after evolving into a stretch big man who can knock down shots from the perimeter and the three-point territory.

During his 2020 season with Alaska, Brondial showed improved numbers throughout his seven-year PBA career after averaging 6.8 points and six rebounds per game the whole season.

Brondial will provide an added boost to the already stacked San Miguel team and will join the frontcourt of June Mar Fajardo, Vic Manuel, and Moala Tautuaa.

Currently sitting at fourth place with a 3-1 win-loss record, the Beermen are expecting to field Brondial once the games are resumed.
