San Miguel banks on third-quarter magic to sink Titan Ultra

The San Miguel Beermen leaned on a massive third-quarter surge to manhandle the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, 143-105, in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup on July 29, 2026, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

After a competitive first half, San Miguel blew the game wide open at the seven-minute mark of the third quarter, breaking a 68-all deadlock with a momentum-stealing 36-11 run to pull away.

The Beermen sucked the life out of the Giant Risers as they headed to the final frame with a 42-19 third-quarter advantage and never looked back.

Rattled and stunned by what transpired in a jiffy, Titan Ultra failed to rekindle its first-half spark as it threw in the towel with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Before San Miguel took over in the second half, Titan Ultra held its ground and had a decent showing on the offensive end.

Trailing by 10 points in the second quarter, the Giant Risers used their quickness to attack San Miguel with relentless drives and pull within three points at halftime, 61-58.

However, San Miguel snipers Marcio Lassiter and Jerrick Ahanmisi kicked off the squad’s insane scoring avalanche with back-to-back 3-pointers that ballooned the Beermen’s lead to eight points.

Don Trollano, June Mar Fajardo, and import George King then joined the scoring party as the trio dominated the shaded lane through several post-up plays and high-low executions.

The Beermen then took advantage of Titan Ultra’s cold-shooting stretch as Trollano and King buried ridiculous 4-pointers that pushed San Miguel’s lead past 30 points.

By the time the third-quarter buzzer sounded, the Giant Risers looked deflated after being thoroughly hammered, and San Miguel capitalized to close out the game on a high note.

Despite limited playing time due to the lopsided result, King still had All-Star numbers, leading all scorers with 35 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

Ahanmisi delivered 26 markers on four 3-pointers, while the duo of Trollano and Lassiter chipped in 22 and 13 points, respectively.

With the convincing win, San Miguel improved to 4-1, while the Giant Risers fell to a dismal 1-5 record.

The Beermen will look to pick up where they left off on Aug. 1, 2026, against the TNT Tropang 5G, while Titan Ultra aims to arrest its skid on Aug. 4, 2026, against the Macau Giant Pandas.
