BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Renato Gustilo expressed grief over the road mishap in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on April 10 that killed a health worker and injured 11 others.
Gustilo visited the wake of G. Perfecto Magbanua on Monday and condoled with the family.
“This loss is felt by the community, and we stand in solidarity with all those grieving during this difficult time,” he said.
The mayor also visited the injured victims at the hospital and assured them that they are receiving proper care and that the city government will continue to provide support and assistance.
“The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and I am urging the filing of the appropriate case,” the mayor said in a statement.
He said this should serve as an example and help ensure justice for the victims, who are personnel of the city’s Primary Care Facility.
The victims were on board a vehicle traveling from Barangay Quezon to a bloodletting activity in Barangay Rizal when the vehicle overturned after colliding with a delivery van that reportedly entered the opposite lane.
One of the injured victims was transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City, while the others are recovering at San Carlos District Hospital.
“May this trial not weaken our commitment to public service, but instead strengthen our shared cause in serving those in need,” Gustilo said.
He also asked for prayers, strength, and recovery for all those affected.
