San Carlos City celebrates National Hospital Week

BACOLOD City – The San Carlos City Hospital (SCCH) in Negros Occidental marked the National Hospital Week on Aug 8-12, 2022 with Bilateral Tubal Ligation Day, among other activities.

National Hospital Week celebration themed “Pagbangon Mula sa Pandemya, Kayang Kaya Basta’t Sama Sama” has lined up various activities such as the Zumba Fitness, Bilateral Tubal Ligation Day, Bloodletting Activity, different sporting activities such as basketball and volleyball in San Carlos City.

The SCCH, in coordination with the Commission on Population and Development (PopCOM) and City Health Office, held a free bilateral tubal ligation (BTL) and insertion of contraceptive implant on August 9.

About 12 patients for BTL and 60 patients for implant insertion had registered and underwent the procedures for female contraception.

San Carlos City Administrator lawyer Estefanio S. Libutan Jr., who spoke in behalf of City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo, thanked the employees of San Carlos City Hospital especially the frontliners and those who care for COVID-19 patients.

“Serve patients with compassion and sensitivity since aside from medical care, the sick also need kindness,” Libutan told the SCCH employees.

He cited the greatest figure in nursing history, Florence Nightingale whose teachings include treating every person or patient holistically since every person has a spiritual, mental, and physical side that must be nurtured for complete healing to occur.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Genevieve G. Montaño, Acting Chief of the City Hospital, said that there are now only a few cases of COVID 19 in the city which means that it is already manageable but since it is still around precautionary measures are still important to avoid infection.

The National Hospital Week is an annual celebration pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 181, aimed at promoting awareness of the health program and social roles of the hospital as well as the importance of hospital partnerships with other sectors and the community in ensuring and maintaining the health of the citizens.
