A bizarre accident left a father and son injured when they were hit by a detached tire from a Ceres bus in Barangay Licoan, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, on the afternoon of March 24.
The injured parties, Kenneth John Bacsid, 21, and his father, Abner Bacsid, 58, hail from Barangay Sigangao, Zarraga town.
Police disclosed that the bus, en route to Concepcion town from Iloilo City, lost its left front tire, which subsequently struck the motorcycle that Kenneth John was operating with his father as the passenger.
The bus driver, Jose Joel Paro, 46, from Barangay Bay-ang, Ajuy, Iloilo, reported noticing a problem with his tire moments before it came loose.
Barotac Nuevo police chief Captain Cedric Cruz reported that Abner suffered foot injuries and facial abrasions, while Kenneth John incurred a foot injury and general body pain. Both were taken to Western Visayas Medical Center.
Following the incident, Paro was released from police custody after an agreement was reached between the parties involved.
