Roxas worker arrested over gun sale, suspected shabu

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested a construction worker in a firearms sting at noon Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Barangay Punta Tabuc.
Police identified the suspect as Jesus Bautista Jr., an adult resident of the barangay.
According to police, Bautista sold an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver to an officer posing as a buyer.
Officers said they found four sachets of suspected shabu while searching him after the arrest.
The Roxas Component City Police Station conducted the operation as part of its campaign against loose firearms, which police said are commonly used in crimes.
Republic Act No. 10591 regulates firearm ownership, possession, and sale. Its definition of loose firearms includes unregistered, stolen, and illegally manufactured weapons.
Police said they would file charges against Bautista for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Bautista remained in the custody of the city police station.
